Thanks to the support of the community through donations, along with a successful grant application with the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program, Narre Warren North Fire Brigade will be purchasinf a brand new Forward Command Vehicle.
The new Forward Command Vehicle is based on a new standard for the CFA that many brigades have been rolling out as seen in the attached photo. The standard build FCV is built on a Ford Ranger XL (3.2 litre 4x4) cab chassis, with some additional features including side steps, snorkel, dual batteries, all-terrain tyres and nudge bar.
The FCV which will replace the current Nissan Patrol, will provide the fireground with a dedicated modern communications vehicle where an incident controller, divisional commander, sector commander or strike team leader can effectively manage fires and other incidents. The vehicle also contains vital equipment to assist in the support of our crews various incidents. When not used for operational activities the vehicle will be used to assist our members in transportation to training activities, community engagement and information sessions, etc. We look forward to using the new support appliance in the next couple months.
